HANTU is a company dedicated to keeping the spirit of horror alive. Across mediums and formats, our goal is to tell compelling, emotionally resonant and, of course, terrifying stories—as well as develop intellectual properties that will bring Southeast Asia’s myths and creatures out to the rest of the world.
Our flagship series, Ghost Maps, follows a mysterious narrator as he chronicles the supernatural around Southeast Asia. Ghost Maps was awarded Best Asian Hosted Podcast at the 17th Annual People’s Choice Podcast Awards, and Best Fictional Podcast at the 2024 and 2025 Asia Podcast Awards.
Dead Air is our monthly talk show. It features conversations with a variety of personalities such as influencer and actor, Hafidz Rahman; bookseller and former diplomat, Kenny Chan; podcasters, YAH Lah But; TikToker and Gen Z Taoist priest, Lee Chee Tong; and Incredible Tales host and MTV VJ, Utt.
Together with the National Library Board, we created Unearthed, an educational audio programme that explores the cultural history of the region's most notorious entities.
In 2024, we were commissioned by Mediacorp to revitalise their Incredible Tales IP by creating a retrospective spin-off, Tales From Incredible Tales. The hit show’s third season debuted in late August 2025.
We also independently funded and produced Closing Time, a short film that was screened at the Tokyo Lift-Off Film Festival 2021 and the 12th Kota Kinabalu International Film Festival.
HANTU was co-founded in 2019 by filmmaker, Kyle Ong, and author, Wayne Rée.
